Thank you for your interest in writing for God's Missionary Church. We hope that this article will serve to clarify our mission, commitments, and expectations. Please feel free to contact us with questions or comments.
The average person is immersed in nearly eighty hours of media each week via smartphones and other technology. The average church-goer is exposed to no more than three thirty-minutes messages. This alarming 21st century reality is a challenge but also an awesome opportunity for spiritual formation.
At God's Missionary Church, we are serving the church by using digital media to reach people where they are — Monday to Sunday. In addition to social media content, this includes blog articles that answer questions, engage culture, offer encouragement, and help people to think Biblically. This is where you come in.
We want you to be a part of our mission: to form spiritually vibrant people who think through what they believe and are grounded in Scripture and history. There is a desperate call for Media Ministry in our day and we are asking you to help answer it. Your contribution matters.
In the spirit of Wesley, the world is our parish, media is our voice, and Scriptural holiness is our message. As Assistant Editor Paul Ryan commented, "No movement has been widely propagated or robustly sustained without media." Our Media Ministry is essential to shaping our future.
Biblically Grounded, Distinctly Wesleyan
We are firmly committed to the full inerrancy of Scripture and the Wesleyan-Arminian understanding of sin, salvation, and sanctification.
Scripture should be used abundantly but carefully and with sensitivity to Biblical context. Whenever possible, consulted sources should include published works from our tradition of faith.
Each piece should be well-researched, constructive in tone, and rooted in gospel themes: God's glory, the supremacy of Christ, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and perfect love for God and man.
Please be conscious of our formatting requests.
Also, please include a list of consulted sources (if any) at the end of your submission; do not use footnotes or in-text citation. Short paragraphs (no more than eight lines) are preferred.
Quotability matters. Since articles are disseminated through social media, it is important to have at least one short and engaging sentence in each major section of your article (preferably 200 characters or less). These sentences are usually highlighted in block quotes; for example,
No movement has been widely propagated or robustly sustained without media.
Articles may be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org or uploaded to the Media Ministries Dropbox if an invitation has been extended to you.
Each submission will be reviewed by two content editors, a copy editor, and an accountability editor from the General Board of God's Missionary Church to ensure quality of content, grammar, and composition as well as consistency with our beliefs and distinctives.
We retain full rights to carefully edit and retitle the piece. (Significant changes will be sent to the author for approval before publication.)
After revision, your article will be assigned a header image, formatted with subtitles and block quotes, and posted on the blog. It will then be shared through our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). Your article will enter a searchable database and be assigned to categories with similar content. As our readership grows, your article will be reposted to reach new people.
Please join us in serving the church through digital media. We look forward to your contribution.
